| Info | Terrance E. "Terry" Backer
Terry Backer has served as a State Representative for Stratford since 1993, prior to that he was an active member of the Town of Stratford serving on the local shellfish commission. Terry was born in Stamford and attended Norwalk public school system. He is a licensed master, U.S. Coast Guard and a former member of the Long Island Sound Advisory Council appointed in 1990. In 1991, he served as a member of the Connecticut Council on Environmental Quality until elected as state representative.
He has served as Long Island Soundkeeper and Executive Director for Soundkeeper Inc. a not for profit environmental conservation organization for the past 16 years. Terry also serves as Vice President of the Waterkeeper Alliance an international organization of over 75 River, Bay, Sound and other waterkeeper organizations. Terry also serves as a board member for several other local and national non profit organizations. He is the father of two teenage children.
