| Info | Experienced in business, government, and academia, Lois Kathryn Herr speaks and writes about women's rights and responsibilities. Challenging the new generation of women executives, she links the women's movement of the seventies to today.
Herr's corporate background includes 26 years with Bell Laboratories (now Lucent), AT&T, and NYNEX (now Verizon) as well as over 10 years experience as a corporate board member with Conestoga Financial Corporation and its affiliates. In 1974-75 she served in the Office of Management and Budget (Washington DC) as part of the President's Executive Interexchange Program. Since 1993, she has worked for Elizabethtown College in a variety of positions�Visiting Instructor in Marketing, Adjunct Instructor in Professional Writing, Director of Marketing (a senior-level administrative position reporting to the President), and currently Scholar-in-Residence.
Professionally, Herr served on the boards of a wide variety of organizations, such as the Lancaster County Planning Commission (which she currently chairs), the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Board of Barber Examiners, Elizabethtown College, Lancaster Farmland Trust, the Women's Alliance, the Chicago and New York City chapters of the Society for Technical Communication, and the Veteran Feminists of America. Herr is a member and currently the secretary of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club. As part of her Lancaster County Planning Commission activities, Herr participates in a number of related committees and task forces including the Growth Management Update Task Force, the Smart Growth Coalition, the Strategic Tourism Task Force, etc. Herr recently was appointed to the Mt. Joy Township Agricultural Area Advisory Committee.
Herr graduated from Fordham University (MBA, 1974), the University of Pennsylvania (MA, 1963), and Elizabethtown College (BA, 1962). She did advanced study at the Harvard Graduate School of Business (1986) and at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University (2002).
Between 1990 and 2002, Herr owned and operated Herr Farm. Currently she and her mother Kathryn Herr live together in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
