| Info | My name is Jim Smallwood, and I am your State Senator from Senate District 4. I care deeply about the community I have called home for over 20 years and I bring my proven experience and values to represent the citizens of Senate District 4 in the State Legislature.
Since 2010, my career has been focused on helping the people of Colorado navigate the largest challenge businesses and families have faced in recent memory: Obamacare. Watching my fellow Coloradans struggle to cope after sky-rocketing premiums, the loss of health plans, and crushing new regulations after our government thought it knew best infuriated me. I knew I had to do something after experiencing the burden of Obamacare first hand. I will use this experience to battle against future government overreach and lead Colorado back to responsible and limited government.

American Values:
My father served 22 years in the U.S. Army until he retired as Major in Fort Riley, Kansas. When I was 11 years old he taught me that service to my country was the greatest calling available to every citizen. I worked hard to get my B.B.A. in Finance at Fort Hays State University and was truly blessed to have met my wife, Jodi, who has been by my side for 20 years. At 22, I started my first business in Colorado – a small insurance brokerage firm. In 1996 we made the best choice of our lives by moving to Parker where we have been raising our three boys and are active members of our community.
Today, my friends, family, and close colleagues have all generously supported my dedication to public service and volunteer work through prayer, donations, and encouraging words.
