Info | Hiram Lewis, IV, was born in the small, coal-mining town of Welch, West Virginia, in 1971. In 1986, he moved to Weirton, West Virginia, and graduated from Weir High in 1989. In 1994, Hiram graduated with honors, cum laude, from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance. After college he enlisted in the Army as an Airborne/Ranger, graduating as an Honor Graduate from the Ranger Indoctrination Program. He served three years as an Airborne/Ranger with 3d Ranger Battalion in Fort Benning, Georgia.
In 1998, he returned to West Virginia University’s School of Law graduating law school in May 2001. In December 2001, Hiram completed a second Bachelor's degree from WVU in Accounting.
After September 11th, 2001, Hiram pursued a direct commission in the National Guard as a Judge Advocate. In September 2002, Hiram received the direct commission as a First Lieutenant and joined the 111th Engineer Group out of St. Albans as Trial Counsel.
Out of law school, Hiram started his own law practice, LewisLaw, practicing in Morgantown. He served as WV Senate Minority Leader Counsel for the 2002 West Virginia Legislative session. During the summer and fall, Hiram served as an Election Volunteer Coordinator, 1st Congressional District, for the National Rifle Association’s Institutue for Legislative Affairs.
Currently a Captain and JAG officer in the West Virginia Army National Guard, Hiram serves as Command Judge Advocate for the 111th Engineer Group. In January 2004, Hiram and his unit returned from Operation Iraqi Freedom after nine months in the Gulf, including a short stint in Baghdad where he served as a magistrate at Camp Cropper.
Hiram has been awarded the Army Commendation Medal (x3), two Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon (x2), and the Army Service Ribbon. He is authorized to wear the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Airborn Jump Wings and Canadian Jump Wings.
Hiram is a member of the NRA, American Legion (Post #8), WV State Rifle and Pistol Club, WV Muzzleloaders, West Virginians for Life, and Christian Legal Society. He attends Chestnut Ridge Community Church in Morgantown.
