Mark Leyes attended Garden Grove public schools and earned his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Economics from California State University, Fullerton. Mark currently works for Assemblyman Bob Pacheco (R-60) in his District Office.
Mark Leyes has been a Boy Scout troop leader and a member of the Orange County Council for Boy Scouts of America. Mark is a founding member of the Garden Grove Community Foundation, and a member of the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce and the Garden Grove Historical Society.
Mark Leyes was elected to the Garden Grove City Council in 1990 and re-elected in 1994, 1998 and 2002. With his community interest and professional knowledge, Mark is a strong proponent of community development. He served for nine years as Chairman of the Agency for Community Development. Mark also strongly supports public safety, accountable government, and low taxes for Garden Grove residents.
One of Mark's goals as a Councilman has been to keep Garden Grove's streets, businesses, and neighborhoods safe. He has a strong commitment to law enforcement and believes in keeping close ties with the community to help fight crime. He is also a strong supporter of the City's Neighborhood Watch Program and the nationally recognized Community Policing Program.
