Infoborn in Osage, Carroll County, Ark., February 3, 1894; attended the public schools; was graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1917; was admitted to the bar in 1925 and commenced practice in Berryville, Carroll County, Ark.; during the First World War served in the United States Army as a private and was assigned to the Adjutant General�s Office, Little Rock, Ark.; county official of Carroll County, Ark., 1920-1928; prosecuting attorney of the fourth judicial circuit of Arkansas 1930-1938; judge of the fourth judicial circuit of Arkansas 1938-1944; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-ninth and to the ten succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1945-January 3, 1967); chairman, Special Committee on Chamber Improvements (Eighty-first and Eighty-second Congresses); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1966 to the Ninetieth Congress; resided in Berryville, Ark.; died in Eureka Springs, Ark., March 10, 1972; interment in Berryville Memorial Park, Berryville, Ark.
