Sandra's roots in politics began in the early 1970s when working on Senator Edmund Muskie's 1972 bid for the Presidency. But her passion for public service actually began much earlier...
Born in Cottonwood, Arizona, Sandra spent her first 16 years residing in several National Parks. Her father, Steve, had a distinguished career with US National Park Service beginning as a Park Ranger in Arizona and culminating as Director of Concession Operations for the western region of the National Park Service.
Her father's career eventually took the family away from Sandra's home state of Arizona to Washington DC. Arriving in Washington at the young age of 16, Sandra found herself immersed in the heart of American public policy at a time when there was much to debate on the American political stage. Her intellect, drive, and passion for public policy melded together and she was immediately drawn into the process. Therefore, when the opportunity came to work on Senator Muskie's campaign, Sandra jumped at the opportunity.
Though Senator Muskie was unsuccessful in winning his bid, Sandra has remained involved ever since and most recently as a political consultant and lobbyist on California's Capitol Hill. During the last 3 years, Sandra has been the chief lobbyist for several key and noteworthy clients - both local and multi-national - who have interests in California. Sandra has consulted on a variety of issues including environmental policy.
Sandra's philosophy is a simple one yet one that seems to have evaporated in the current public policy arena. The many levels of government - local, state, and Federal - are supposed to really be of the People, by the People, and ultimately - For the People. This simple ideal has been buried by the current establishment. Sandra's passion dictates that she take action - and her desire to serve her fellow Californians is the result of this passion.
