Info | Juany Garza is the first elected Hispanic woman Alderman in Aurora, coming into office in April 2005. Born in Mexico on December 3, 1954 in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Alderman Garza came to the United States in 1971. She will be up for re-election in 2017.
Alderman Garza received her degree as an elementary teacher in Mexico and now is a successful business woman. Alderman Garza is the president of J&G Insurance in Villa Park.
Alderman Garza Garza has three children; Marbella, Ricardo, and Hafid; and is the grandmother of Isabel, Madelyne and Roman.
Service and Community Involvement
Alderman Garza has been serving communities since 1978, when she volunteered at her daughter’s kindergarten school in 1978. Since then, Alderman Garza has been involved in several organizations, including:
New Horizons — 1979-1980; an organization that focuses on improving literacy within the Hispanic community.
Kiwanis Club — 1982-1987; a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis focuses on the special needs of children, from prenatal development to age five.
Cermak Road Chamber of Commerce and Industry — 1987-2004; Alderman Garza served for 4 years as the treasurer.
LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) — 1987-2004; whose mission is to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, and the health and civil rights of the Hispanic population of the United States.
