InfoMr. Hodges was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Washington Bancorporation (1983-89), a regional bank holding company, and The National Bank of Washington (D.C.) from 1981 to 1989. He was a Democratic candidate for the United States Senate from North Carolina in 1978, served as Undersecretary of the U. S. Department of Commerce in 1979 and as the first Deputy Secretary of Commerce in 1980. From 1962 to 1977, Mr. Hodges served in various management positions at the North Carolina National Bank (now Bank of America), and was Chairman of the Board 1974-77. Mr. Hodges was, for many years, active on the board of directors of numerous community, educational, and corporate organizations. He has been a member of the faculty at UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, and The University of New Mexico.

Mr. Hodges is a 1957 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds master's degrees in both Economics and Finance from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He was a member of the United States Naval Reserve from 1957 to 1965, advancing to the rank of lieutenant.
