| Info | Art grew up in Auburn, attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Placer High School as a valedictorian. Art earned accolades on the student council and in a variety of leadership positions, where he was first introduced to the value of public service. He earned the Eagle Scout rank, a culmination of twelve years that included leadership of Auburn’s Troop 19, and summers in Soda Springs and Truckee as a shooting sports and wilderness skills instructor.
After high school he attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a field of study in Environmental Engineering. Commissioned as an infantry officer, Art has a combined fourteen years of ArtMoore1 Active Duty and National Guard service, including thirty months deployed overseas. Art is currently a Major in the Army National Guard.
Following 9/11, Art deployed to the Haifa Street section of Baghdad, where he was second in command of a 200-Soldier infantry company, and was awarded the Bronze Star. Two years later he deployed as chief of logistics of an 800-Soldier light infantry battalion in support of the Iraq War Surge. Most recently, Art deployed as chief of operations of a 430-Soldier light infantry battalion performing multinational peacekeeping operations in the Sinai, Egypt.
In-between full-time military service, Art is a ArtMoore2recognized and accomplished strategy and operations professional and process improvement expert. Art has worked as a business executive in the building products industry and as a management consultant serving federal government clients in the U.S. Intelligence Community. Through these experiences, Art has seen first-hand the challenges facing business owners in an era of bloated government and inefficient bureaucracy.
