InfoA lifelong resident of Pueblo, I was born here in 1948 and grew up poor on Pueblo’s east side. My mother, brother and older sister arrived in Pueblo in 1948 having crossed the border illegally. In 1963 they, along with my Grandmother, returned to Mexico to process their visas and, after returning legally, all became American citizens.

My mom, in her wisdom, also decided to put my brother, my sisters and me through 12 years of private Catholic education, first at St. Leander’s Grade School, and then at Pueblo Catholic High School from which I graduated in 1966. I later attended Pueblo Community College and obtained an Associates Degree in General Studies.

In 1971 I went into public service by joining the Pueblo Police Department where, during my 34 year career, I progressed through the ranks from Patrolman, to Corporal, to Sergeant, then Captain and finally retiring in 2005 as Deputy Chief.

Since retiring I have become active in the Republican party, and after much discussion with my wife Kathryn, I have decided it is time to seek public office in order to apply common sense and traditional values to the legislative process in Colorado.

I am married to my lovely wife Kathryn, have two children, George and Jennifer, step-children Brandon, Rachel, and Victor and a granddaughter Sarah. I also have one brother, Juan Rivera and two sisters Lucia Rivera-Aragon and Martha Yarusso.
