Info | Elizabeth Colbert Busch (born 1954) is the Director of Business Development at Clemson University’s Restoration Institute, and a candidate for the 2013 special election for South Carolina's 1st congressional district. She is the sister of entertainer Stephen Colbert.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Colbert-Busch graduated from the College of Charleston in 1988. She joined Orient Overseas Container Line in 1988, working as the Director of Regional Sales and Marketing and Director of Business Development at their regional headquarters in Charleston, before being hired by Clemson University in 2006, working as the Director of Development and Public Affairs. She served as the Chair of the 2006 S.C. International Trade Conference, and Chair of the Maritime Association Port of Charleston.
On January 18, 2013, Colbert-Busch announced her candidacy for the U.S. House, to fill the seat vacated by Tim Scott upon his appointment to the U.S. Senate to fill the seat vacated by Jim DeMint. She is a member of the Democratic Party.
