| Info | John "Corky" Mazurek (D-Wolcott, Southington) was elected to his first term as the State Representative from the 80th Assembly District in 2003. Since 1977 he has resided in Wolcott with his wife Cindy and two children, Paul and Kara.
Corky received his appointment as Vice-Chair of the General Law Committee, uncommon for someone serving his first term in office. He also serves as a member of the Energy and Technology Committee and the Banks Committee.
Corky is an active member of his community having served as a President of the Wolcott Lion’s Club, a member of the Sewer and Water Commission, past member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, past member of Wakelee PTA and Wolcott High PTO, a member of the Wolcott Democratic Town Committee and the Waterbury Elks Lodge #265 to name just a few. He is also an active supporter of the Connecticut Red Cross, Wolcott Special Olympics, Connecticut Special Olympics, Toys for Tots, Food Baskets for the Needy, Citizens Against Substance Abuse, Wolcott High School Post Prom Party, Wolcott Police DARE Program and Easter Seal Camp Hemlocks.
Rep. Mazurek is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University where he received his Master of Science Degree in Industrial Management. He is also the recipient of the 1993 Lion of the Year Award and the 1999 Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Rep. Mazurek is looking forward to his first term in office.
