Info | Democrat Thomas F. Connery, Jr., who represented Gloucester County in the State Senate and Assembly, died on Sunday, January 18, 2004. He was 88. A Naval Intelligence officer during World War II, Connery was elected to the State Assembly in 1957 and won a State Senate seat in 1959 when Harold Hannold left to take a seat on the state Parole Board. He served one term before losing to Republican John Hunt, who went on to serve four terms in Congress.
He was the founder of one of South Jersey's most prominent law firms, Brown & Connery. After leaving the Senate, Connery served as Special Counsel to the Delaware River Port Authority and served on the state Racing Commission.
A viewing will be held Wednesday and Thursday at the McGuinness Funeral Home in Woodbury, and he funeral will be on Thursday at St. Patrick's RC Church in Woodbury.
