Born and raised in Elizabeth City, Sam took over the family owned hardware store and has brought common-sense leadership to the Pasquotank County Commission as Vice Chairman. Sam Davis also works as a real estate agent. These are a few of the experiences Sam Davis brings to the table for the people as a candidate for North Carolina's 1st Congressional district.

Commonsense County Commissioner

In 1998, Sam Davis, 46, ran for the Pasquotank County Commission in order to bring a business perspective to county government. As a lifetime resident of Elizabeth City, Sam won his campaign by unifying factions within the community and pushing a clear agenda for further economic development of the county.

Sam has served as Chairman of the Finance Committee on the Pasquotank County Commission where he has pushed for significant increases in the economic development office. By adding staff, technology and resources, his efforts are providing family businesses, family farms as well as mom and pop shops the tools to compete in today's competitive economy.

Champion of Education

A passion for education and a commitment to improve local schools motivated Sam to lead an effort on the County Commission to creatively fund a new Pasquotank high school while lowering county taxes. He is an ardent supporter of expanding educational opportunities for people of all ages - from children to displaced workers. Sam believes that a good education is the best jobs program ever created, and education is the answer to building and expanding eastern North Carolina's future economic prosperity.

Education, Experience and Community Involvement

Sam is a member of the Elizabeth City Chamber of Commerce, past President of the Elizabeth City Jaycees, former Regional Director of the North Carolina Jaycees, Past President of Elizabeth City Rotary and Assistant District Governor of the District 7720 Rotary. Sam was also District 1 Director of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. These experiences have made Sam very familiar with the issues and problems that face towns and communities across the 1st Congressional District. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from ECSU with a Business Administration Degree. Sam is an active outdoorsman with a passion for fly-fishing North Carolina's rivers and waterways.
