Ms September is the Minister of Human Settlement of the Republic of South Africa since 10 July 2013.
She is a Member of Parliament for the African National Congress (ANC) since 1999.
Ms September is a member of the Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry from 2004 to present. She serves as the Chairperson for the Portfolio Committee on Water Affairs & Forestry. She serves as a Chief Whip in the National Assembly from 2004 to present.
Academic Qualifications
She holds a Masters Degree in Technology from the Da Vinci Institute as well as a post graduate degree from Warwick and an Advanced Diploma from the University of Western Cape. Minister September is currently studying towards a Masters Degree in Economics with the University of London.
Career/Positions/Memberships/Other Activities
Minister September became the first women in the country to be elected as the 2nd Deputy President of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) in 1993. She served Cosatu with distinction until she was elected to the position of 1st Deputy President in 1998.
Ms September was the National Treasurer of the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union from 1991-1999
She was employed for 20 years at Rex Trueform in Cape Town.
