As a distinguished veteran of the US Army Reserve, Vai selflessly served his county with unwavering dedication to the Army’s Core Values while performing the difficult duties entrusted in him by his country and state. Vai demonstrated his ability to make difficult decisions under extreme pressure while serving in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Vai Sua was Honorably Retired in 2006 from the US Army Reserves where he decided to continue his selfless service to his country and state by serving and continuing to protect his local community while keeping with the same values he followed in the US Army.

Vai is the founder, CEO and President of Millennium Security Inc. Not only has Vai successfully navigated the difficulties of starting, running, and expanding a small business, but he has continued to learn the difficulties faced by the members of his community. Millennium Security was not only formed to continue his passion to protect the community, but was founded on the same principals entrenched in him from the US Army. These same principals of; trust, honesty, integrity, ethical and lawfulness are the foundation in which he has always served his country and community and will continue to serve as City Councilman for District #9.

Vai Sua is not only dedicated to returning the community to a safe and secure environment for the entire family by giving District 9 a genuine voice in the Honolulu City Council, but is dedicated to helping the community the “old fashioned way”. Vai believes the most important way to make a difference is to “Get Involved”. Vai Sua, a Member of the; Waipahu Neighborhood Board, Waipahu Coalition, Waikele Safety Posse, 442ND Infantry Association, and Volunteer Neighborhood Patrol, is no stranger to rolling up his sleeves to support his community.

Married to Leutu Sonoma Liufau with a family of 9 Children, Vai is no stranger to the challenges of raising an Ohana, especially in the current climate our communities and schools are faced with. Vai and Leutu have managed a successful family by embracing the Aloha spirit and sacrificing when needed to support each other. Vai cares as much as any other father or parent about the safety of their keiki and Ohana. Educated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice coupled with his experience from the US Army and from being a loving husband and father, Vai Sua qualifies as District 9’s best candidate capable of molding our community into a safer place for everyone.
