Formerly served as Co-Chair of Select Committee on Children and a member of the Environment Committee, the Judiciary Committee and as Chair of the Indian Affairs Task Force.

Elected to the Manchester Board of Directors (Town Council) in 1971, reelected in 1973 and 1975. Served as Deputy Mayor one term and Mayor two terms.

PERSONAL: Born Staten Island, New York. Educated public and parochial schools on Staten Island. Graduate of St. Michael's College, Bachelor of Arts, Political Science, and graduate of University of Connecticut, Master of Arts, Political Science. Entered United States Marine Corps in 1950. Served with First Marine Division in Korea, 1951-1952. Honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1952.

Married Elizabeth Collins Thompson in 1955. Five children and five grandchildren.
