Info | Donald Augustine "Don" Rogers
Rogers is an unapologetic arch-conservative. He is a staunch supporter of state's rights, tighter immigration restrictions, opposes gun control laws, opposes the United Nations and a "one world" government, and is pro-life without exception. Rogers, however, is also highly controversial. He twice attended events in the mid-1990s sponsored by The Jubilee Newspaper (a leading Christian Identity movement publication in California) -- and was a featured speaker there along with Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, white supremacist and neo-Nazi leaders. He has also been a speaker at various militia events. Rogers also raised eyebrows when -- during an extensive legal battle with the IRS -- he filed a notarized document in 1992 with the Sonoma County Recorder's office in which he stated that although he considered himself a US citizen under the 14th Amendment (which extended citizenship to former slaves), he described himself as a non-resident alien individual who held "white man's citizenship" and didn't have to pay any federal income taxes. He later filed for bankruptcy protection after the IRS sought nearly $150,000 in back taxes, interest and penalties. Rogers later renounced the affidavit four years later by saying he had "received bad tax advice."
American Party Presidential Candidate Don Rogers served in the California
Assembly for eight years for 1979 through 1986 and in the California Senate
for ten years from 1986 through 1996.
Don was born in Louisiana and is a graduate of Louisiana State University
with a B.S. in Geology. He immediately went to work with an oil company
following graduation for which he worked sixteen years in Louisiana,
Mississippi and California. Don has lived in California for over 35 years.
Today, Don is the owner of Success Petroleum Company.
Don is a registered geologist in the State of California. He is a past
member of the Future Farmers of America, Kern County Farm Bureau and the
Kings County Farm Bureau. He is a member of the Gun Owners of California
and the San Joaquin Geological Society. Don holds a commercial pilots
license and is a U. S. Marine Corps veteran.
Marilyn, Don's "better half," a former court reporter, is a member of the
National Shorthand Reporters and the Certified Shorthand Reporters of
California.
