Info | Brian has seen San Jose change firsthand over the last fifty years.
Since first moving here in 1960, he has left once or twice for educational
and work opportunities but he always came back. He started a business
in San Jose, raised a family, and knows our best years are still ahead of us.
Born in Philadelphia, Brians family moved to San Jose in 1960. He
attended Archbishop Mitty High School for two years before finishing High
School in Campbell. After graduation, he left to go to college, but upon
graduation he immediately returned.
In 1976, Brian came to San Jose to work as a Real Estate Appraiser.
After six years, he decided to take the plunge and start his own company
ONeills Appraisal Services, a small business dedicated to helping individuals
determine the valuation of their homes. For 15 years, he learned on the job
not only about appraising, but also about being a small business owner in
California. He learned how to oversee a balance sheet and manage employees. He experienced first-hand how government regulations can hinder businesses ability to compete and watched as the City of San Jose changed around him.
In 1996, Brians wife took over ONeills and he moved his skills to Santa Clara County, where he became a Senior Real Estate Appraiser for the County Assessors Office. In his 15 years at the County, Brian has been a talented advocate for his fellow workers. He served as the Service Employees International Unions (SEIU) COPE Chair for over a decade and has served as the Chapter Chair of SEIU.
Brian has been a tireless community leader in the Almaden Valley. He is a member of the Almaden Valley Rotary Club and a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. He lives in the Valley with his wife Terri. They raised three children in San Jose Jason, Alicia, and Brian and now have two beautiful grandchildren, Wyatt and Colton.
Brian is now focused on his next effort, running for public office to use his experience to represent the people of District 10 in San Jose.
