Info | My name is Randal Wallace and I am running for South Carolina’s 7th Congressional District. I was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on August 24, 1970 where I have lived most of my life. My mother is Gloria Grant Wallace Bulmer and my father is Tommy Wallace. I am also a lifelong member of St. Philip’s Lutheran Church.
My mother was a public schoolteacher in both Darlington and Horry Counties. She and my father moved to Myrtle Beach in the late 60′s when my father took a position in the golf industry as a golf professional at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. I have two brothers; My older brother, Thomas, lives with his wife, Ann and their two daughters in Nashville, Tennessee where he works as a Director of Manufacturing for Sonoco Products Company. My younger brother, Keith, lives in Manning and is the greens superintendent at The Player’s Course Golf Club. My stepfather, Charles Bulmer, was active duty with the Royal Canadian Air Force and was posted at Yorktown, Virginia. He retired from the Air Force and went to work as a civilian with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Atlantic Command in Norfolk,Virginia.
I graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1989. In 1994 I graduated from Lander University with a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in political science and also received a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication in 1996. For the past 9 years I’ve worked in the real estate industry with Waccamaw Land and Timber.
My first involvement in campaigns was holding a homemade sign for Ronald Reagan in 1980. It was then that my good friend and long time Horry County Republican Party Chairman, Al Tirrel, stopped and invited me to the Horry County Republican Party Headquarters. From that point forward I have been actively involved in the political process doing everything from putting up signs to making phone calls and taking on various other duties that helped our candidates get elected. I served as the Lander College Republican Chairman in 1993, 1995, and 1996 at Lander University in Greenwood S.C. and I was president of the Horry County Young Republicans in 1998 and 1999.
In 2001 I was elected to Myrtle Beach City Council. I serve on both the National League of Cities Energy and Environmental Steering Committee and the Municipal Association of SC Legislative Committee. Additionally, I also served on the Myrtle Beach Zoning Board of Adjustments for a number of years. It has been my honor to serve the people of the City of Myrtle Beach. I am in my third term in office, and I am grateful and honored for the confidence the public has shown in me over the years.
As a result of living in the greatest nation on earth, this cultivated my enduring appreciation for our country’s rich history which gave me a heightened sense of civic responsibility. It is my appreciation, love and deep concern for our country and our community that drives me to run for congress. It would be a privilege to serve our nation in the United States Congress as your representative from the 7th District. I would be honored to have your support and prayers as I move forward in this process. Thank you, and may God continue to bless this great nation.
