| Info | City Councilmember-at-Large Eric Granderson was appointed September 22, 2011 and the appointment was ratified on October 6, 2011, by unanimous vote of the City Council. Councilmember Granderson has assumed the City Council seat that was vacated by the resignation of former Councilmember-at-Large Arnie Fielkow, who departed the Council to take a position in the private sector.
Granderson has worked in city government for more than three decades, most recently as Chief of Staff to Councilmember Fielkow. He formerly served as legislative aide or Chief of Staff to three councilmembers including Lambert Boissiere, Jr., Troy Carter and Fielkow. Granderson was also Executive Aide to Mayor Sidney Barthelemy and Capital Projects Manager for the Downtown Development District.
Granderson, a New Orleans native, is a graduate of St. Augustine High School and Columbia University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He is widely respected by his colleagues and known for his level-headed and insightful approach to public service. With an encyclopedic knowledge of the City Charter and public process, he is well equipped to work alongside his Council colleagues building consensus and making important decisions on behalf of the citizens of New Orleans. Granderson’s appointment to Councilmember is effective from October 6, 2011, until the filling of the seat through Special Election in spring of 2012.
