| Info | Mary Clare Fabishak is a twenty-one year resident of Coppell, Texas. She has two children and was married for 22 years. In her time in Coppell she has volunteered extensively in the schools, chairing fundraisers, heading committees, and serving as a PTO president for several years.
She has a PhD in History from Boston University and has taught at Texas A&M University among others. She assisted in the start-up and development of a successful management consulting firm serving in various positions and treasurer.
In recent years she has been a volunteer teacher at LIFT (Literacy Instruction for Texas, a non-profit organization in Dallas) helping prepare adults to take the GED exam. She has also served as a Mentor and tutor to students with literacy issues. LIFT is a 50-year old Dallas non-profit organization which offers GED prep in downtown Dallas and at the Metrocrest Social Services center in Farmers Branch, reading programs for literacy-challenged adults, Family Literacy Workshops programs, and operates ESL programs at a large number of outreach centers across North Texas including St Ann’s in Coppell, St. Francis in Grapevine, St. Luke’s in Irving, and St. Monica’s in North Dallas.
In 2012 she chaired LIFT’s annual fundraiser, ”Rise and Shine with LIFT”, netting over $55,000.
Currently she is working on a book about raising her daughter, who has Down Syndrome.
A longtime Democrat, she has been involved in local Democratic politics since 2010, when she was a delegate to the State Senate District convention and to the State Democratic convention. She is a member of the Metrocrest Democrats, the Coppell Democrats.
