Info | Since his election in November 2000, Mr. Eyking has become a member of the Liberal Rural Caucus, as well as being appointed to the Prime Minister�s Caucus Task Force on Future Opportunities in Agriculture. Mr. Eyking also serves on the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food and on the sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
Mark Eyking and his family run one of the largest farming operations in Nova Scotia. He markets his produce throughout Atlantic Canada, the United States and Europe and has been on several trade missions to these regions. In 1997, he was contracted to demonstrate growing and greenhouse construction techniques in Panama.
In 1997, Mr. Eyking was instrumental in establishing the Bras d�Or Farmer�s Cooperative. He is a past president of the St. Joseph Parish Council and the Millville Community Centre. He was also involved with the board of Talbot House, the Nova Scotia Horticultural Society, where he served as Vice-President, the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture and Marine Atlantic. He also served as community liaison on the Point Aconi Power Plant Project.
In 1990, Mr. Eyking was honoured with the Outstanding Young Farmer�s Award and the Cape Breton Business Excellence Award.
Mr. Eyking obtained his Agriculture Business Diploma from the Nova Scotia Agriculture College and has taken courses at the University of California at Davis.
Mr. Eyking and his wife Pamela have four children.
