| Info | Vern was born in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1956. He graduated from Millidgeville North High School in 1975. Later he took a course at the Saint John Community College. Vern has lived and worked in the Saint John area all his life. In 1987 he married Florence Cyr and their only child, Tristan, was born in December of 1989.
Vern has spent most of his adult life as a volunteer. He joined the Home & School in 1994 when his son was in Kindergarten at the East Saint John Elementary School. Shortly after that, he was voted President of District 6 & 8 Council Home & School. When his term was up and he was ready to step down, nobody wanted the job, so he stayed in as Provincial District Representative.
