Kenneth Birdsong was 1 of Georgia's longest serving state legislators, representing Twiggs and Wilkinson counties and parts of Bibb and Jones counties in the Legislature before retiring in 2004.
Birdsong served as a Twiggs County commissioner for 15 years before he was elected to the state House in 1976. He led the Georgia House Defense and Veterans Affairs Committee, and he was appointed to the State Veterans Service Board in 2005.
A veteran of World War II and Korea, he will be buried at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
