Info | Myles O’Brien grew up in Unionville. After high school, he spent a year as a musician in Vancouver before entering the Fine Arts program at Queen’s University in Kingston. Following university, Myles and his wife Geetha spent two years teaching and traveling in Mexico. They also lived and worked at an organic farm near Erin, Ontario, and traveled through India, before returning to Markham and settling in Stouffville.
These experiences led Myles to pursue a Master's in Environment Studies degree at York University. Upon graduating, he began working with environmental initiatives at the Town of Richmond Hill, where he currently works as a Program Coordinator on water issues and serves on several internal committees.
Myles believes health – the interconnected health of the individual, community, economy, and environment – is the true bottom line. He is determined to help Markham-Unionville, with its unique and diverse attributes, become a provincial role model for good health.
Myles is a founding committee member of the Downtown Stouffville Farmers’ Market. He is also working with York Region organizations and schools to increase local food production, consumption, and appreciation through school and community gardens.
Myles still enjoys playing music, with friends and now with his two young children.
