| Info | Born and raised in Kingston, Ontario, Robert Kiley has a passion for helping foster healthy, compassionate communities and strong political representation. Robert is currently a student with the Faculty of Education at Queen's University. He holds an honours degree in History from Trent University where he received a departmental award in Canadian Studies for a social policy paper exploring aging in rural communities.
Robert has worked as a leadership trainer and outdoor education facilitator for many years. He has also worked in recreational camping as a program director and camp co-leader. In spring 2011, Robert was social media consultant and volunteer co-coordinator for the Kingston & The Islands Green Party federal election campaign. He studied federal-provincial relationships in immigration and the voluntary sector as a research assistant at the Queen’s School of Policy Studies.
Robert has spent many years volunteering for local day camps, student government, and the food bank in Kingston. While attending university in Peterborough, he volunteered at a youth drop in centre, charity thrift store, and retirement centre and was a peer mentor. Additionally, Robert has been involved with the United Way, Rotary Club, and an environmental NGO in Kingston and the Islands and actively serves at Next Free Methodist Church.
Robert believes that policy must strive to reflect the complex nature of life; balancing people, planet and profit as equal partners in a dynamic process of decision making. He sees the role of the political representative as one who encourages and works to ensure honest dialogue between constituents and government to shape meaningful and relevant policy for individuals and their communities. Robert would be proud to represent Kingston & The Islands, his home, at Queen’s Park as an MPP this fall.
