| Info | David was born in Barrie, Ontario in 1954 where he remained throughout his formative years. He was educated in the Catholic school system, of which he has very fond memories. His involvement with the high school debating team brought a great deal of exposure to the art of public speaking and helped to develop a confident attitude. After completing secondary school he worked for a civil engineering firm and held a number of factory jobs before hiring on with CN Rail in Hornepayne. He was employed there for thirty-one years as a brakeman, a conductor, and finally locomotive engineer. In 1983, David married his wife Emma and together they have had seven children who, at present, range in age from twelve to twenty-seven. David and Emma have also been foster parents to three beautiful children.
He left CN in 2008 for Via Rail Canada, also in Hornepayne, where he presently operates the transcontinental passenger train between Sioux Lookout and Capreol. Through the years he has been involved in minor hockey as an assistant coach, head coach, and trainer. He was a founding member of Telecare, a suicide prevention and counseling service. He is currently active as a Lay Presider in his parish and sits on the church finance committee.
