| Info | Mr. Harvard is currently serving a fourth term as a Member of Parliament. He was first elected in November 1988 and was re-elected in October 1993 to represent the federal riding of Winnipeg—St. James. In June 1997, Mr. Harvard was elected in the new federal riding of Charleswood—Assiniboine. In November 2000, he was elected in the renamed riding of Charleswood St. James—Assiniboia.
He is presently a member of the Prime Minister's Caucus Task Force on Future Opportunities in Farming and a member of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage and the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade. He is also Chair of Western Caucus.
Mr. Harvard has served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food as well as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Works and Government Services. He has been Chair of the Northern and Western Liberal Caucus, Chair of the Manitoba Caucus, Chair of the Standing Committee on Government Operations, Chair of the Standing Committee on Heritage and He has served as Chair of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food.
In opposition, Mr. Harvard served on the Standing Committees for Communications and Agriculture.
Prior to entering politics, Mr. Harvard was an award winning broadcaster and journalist. His thirty year career was in both Radio and Television; the last eighteen years with CBC.
