InfoCharles Boylan is an English instructor and radio journalist. He produces and co-hosts Wake Up With Co-Op, M-W-F mornings 7 to 9 a.m. at CFRO 102.7 FM in Vancouver, and hosts Discussion 7 to 8 p.m. (www.wakeupwithco-op.org) Wednesday evenings. He has been active in communist politics since his student days and has been in the forefront of opposition to U.S. imperialist aggression against Yugoslavia, Palestine and Iraq. He is the spokesman in B.C. of the People's Front and has worked for many years to unite people in defence of the rights of all. He has joined those working for a public inquiry into the attack on Indigenous Sovereigntists at Gustafsen Lake in 1995 and for the recognition of the hereditary rights of the Indigenous peoples on their unceded lands in B.C. He strongly believes that the party-dominated electoral system is out of date, and that citizens must have the power to select their candidates directly before election, with an effective recall and initiative direct democracy system in place.
