Dan is currently the Director of Security and Transportation for St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born and raised in Berks County, PA. He graduated from Reading Central Catholic High School and then went onto to receive a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Alvernia College. He enjoyed a successful 27 year career with the Wyomissing Borough Police Department that included stints in patrol, investigations and administration. He was responsible for the supervision of sworn police officers and civilian staff, as well as the 24 hour dispatch center. His career involved conducting county wide investigations as a cross designated Berks county detective under the District Attorney’s Office.
Dan received over 40 commendations and awards for outstanding law enforcement actions during his career, including police Officer of the Year in 1991. His success in Berks County law enforcement was due to his commitment to working collaboratively with all county law enforcement agencies to more effectively combat crime that crossed jurisdictional lines.
He has a strong commitment to community service and has served on numerous boards and committees for the past 24 years. He currently volunteers his time with the following organizations:
* Berks County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Heroes Breakfast Committee
* Discovery Federal Credit Union, Board of Directors
* American Society for Industrial Security, Chair-elect
* Berks County Chiefs of Police Association, Training committee

* PA State Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police, Coordinator of Critical incident Stress Program
In addition, Dan shared his knowledge and experience with fellow law enforcement officers and college students as an adjunct instructor with the Reading Police Academy, Alvernia University, Reading Area Community College and the University of Pittsburgh. Nearly every police officer and deputy sheriff serving in Berks County today has had Dan as their instructor.
Dan is the creator and continues to be one of the leaders the first critical incident stress program in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to be run completely by peer police officers through a local F.O.P. Today, in addition to coordinating the Berks program he is the coordinator of the PA State F.O.P. Member Support Team. These teams have assisted more than 1000 officers and deputies in PA that have been touched by the effects of critical incidents. During the recent tragedy in which three Pittsburgh police officers were killed in the line of duty, Dan and his team responded to assist the members of the Pittsburgh Police Department in responding to this horrific event.
