Bowers to the Thirteenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of William Dowse and served from December 20, 1813, to March 3, 1815; elected to the Fifteenth Congress (March 4, 1817-March 3, 1819); elected to the Eighteenth Congress (March 4, 1823-March 3, 1825); unsuccessful candidate for sheriff in 1828; died in Cooperstown, Otsego County, N.Y., November 9, 1860; interment in Warren Cemetery, Otsego, N.Y.
