Info | LEE, Silas, a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Concord, Mass., July 3, 1760; pursued classical studies and was graduated from Harvard University in 1784; studied law; and was admitted to the bar; member of the State house of representatives in 1793, 1797, and 1798; elected as a Federalist to the Sixth and Seventh Congresses and served from March 4, 1799, until August 20, 1801, when he resigned; appointed by President Jefferson to be United States attorney for the district of Maine January 6, 1802, and served until his death; justice of the peace and of the quorum in 1803; probate judge 1805-1814; chief judge of the common pleas court in 1810; died in Wiscasset, Maine, March 1, 1814; interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
