Info | HULBERT, John Whitefield, a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Alford, Mass., June 1, 1770; completed preparatory studies; was graduated from Harvard University in 1795; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Alford, Mass., in 1797; director of Berkshire Bank, Pittsfield, Mass.; elected as a Federalist to the Thirteenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Daniel Dewey; reelected to the Fourteenth Congress and served from September 26, 1814, to March 3, 1817; was not a candidate for renomination in 1816; moved to Auburn, Cayuga County, N.Y., in 1817; member of the State house of representatives in 1825; resumed the practice of his profession; died in Auburn, N.Y., October 19, 1831; interment in North Street Cemetery.
