InfoConor Murphy lives in Camlough with his wife Catherine and young family. He was educated at St. Colman's College and he is a graduate from both the University of Ulster and Queen's University.

Conor's involvement in republican politics began with the Hunger Strike elections when he campaigned on behalf of the anti H-Block candidates.

He was first elected to Newry & Mourne District Council in 1989 and served as a Councillor for eight years. He was the first Sinn F�in Chair of the Finance and Personnel Committee and was leader of the Sinn F�in group in the Council. He also sat on the Environmental Committee.

Elected as Assembly member for Newry/Armagh in 1998 Conor served as party spokesperson on Equality, the Chip Whip and Chairperson of the Procedures Committee in the outgoing Assembly. Conor is a senior member of the Sinn F�in negotiating team and spokesperson on collusion.

Conor has been outspoken on the need for the complete demilitarisation of the Newry/Armagh area and has constantly raised by matter at negotiations with the British and Irish governments.
