InfoBill Manger learned at an early age how important it is to care for and give back to the community in which you live. His father, a doctor, instilled in Bill the compassionate philosophy that ”you care for the patient by caring for the patient.” Bill’s father introduced him to government as a young boy by taking him to Southampton Village Town Hall meetings. It was this exposure to American democracy at its best that inspired Bill to study political science and later earn a Bachelors degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He later went on to receive a Masters in Business Administration from Columbia University in New York.

Bill had a successful career in the financial services industry as a consultant specializing in helping small businesses grow. But the desire to get involved and make a difference that was instilled into him as a boy kept pulling him back home. So in 1997, at the suggestion of friends and leaders in the community, he ran for and was elected to the Southampton Village Board thereby upsetting a two-term incumbent. Bill went on to get re-elected two years later pulling in almost 75% of the vote.

During the 2000 election, Bill worked as a key advisor to Congressman Rick Lazio’s Senate campaign, before accepting an appointment with the Bush Administration at the United States Department of Transportation. As the Senior Policy Advisor in the Maritime Administration, Bill worked effectively to promulgate sensible policies that promoted efficient transportation that contribute to a prosperous national economy.

Bill Manger believes strongly in maintaining a powerful military that can wage the necessary war on terrorism, so that Americans are protected at home. In his position at the Department Of Transportation, Bill helped oversee the most successful sealift in American history, making sure that our troops overseas had the necessary materials to do their job. Bill gained widespread respect for his bi-partisan efforts in Congress to help pass two major Transportation Security Acts that tightened up access to our ports and provided millions of dollars for port security enhancements and specialized anti-terror training.

Bill resigned his position in the Administration earlier this year because he saw a void in leadership in the First Congressional District and saw the need for a strong and independent voice in Washington that could effectively fight for our fair share of tax dollars.
