Info | PIGOTT, James Protus, a Representative from Connecticut; born in New Haven, Conn., September 11, 1852; attended the common schools and was graduated from Yale College in 1878 and from the law school of the same institution in 1880; was admitted to the bar in 1880 and commenced practice in New Haven, Conn.; served as city clerk of New Haven 1881-1884; member of the State house of representatives in 1885 and 1886; delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 1888 and 1900; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-third Congress (March 4, 1893-March 3, 1895); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Fifty-fourth Congress; resumed the practice of law; died in New Haven, Conn., July 1, 1919; interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
