Info | William Thomas "Bill" Boyd
head of Bill Boyd & Associates Real Estate, Inc. and Piedmont Construction of Asheboro
Boyd was elected Randolph County commissioner in 1980 and 1982. He was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives from the 30th District in 1984 and 1986. He gave up his seat in 1988 to run for lieutenant governor.
Boyd returned to private life after losing the lieutenant governor's race to former Congressman Jim Gardner. In 1996, Boyd successfully battled a brain tumor utilizing a pioneering therapy only offered in Texas.
In 2000, he launched an unsuccessful bid for the District 16 state Senate seat held by Democratic incumbent Howard Lee. Boyd lost that bid but has continued to be active in local county politics.
