Maurice "Maury" D. Portman came to Columbus from Cleveland to work for the Ohio Associated Press Headquarters in December, 1945. He became Mayor Sensenbrenner's executive assistant in 1954 and was the first City Finance Director 3/1958-12/1959. He served as a Columbus City Councilman from 1966 until May 20, 1996.
