•Born March 4, 1963
Skip resides in Chesapeake City with his family. Raised in Cecil County by his father, the late Sheriff John F. (Jack) DeWitt and the late Carey DeWitt.
Skip graduated from North East High School in 1981 and attended Delaware Tech Community College where he majored in Criminal Justice.
Skip enlisted in the United States Army in 1983 and was honorably discharged in 1990 as an Infantry Sergeant. Skip returned to his hometown of Elkton, to fulfill his career as a Law enforcement officer, after his discharge.
His career began in 1990 with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources as a Park Ranger. He decided to follow in his father's footsteps in 1991 when he applied with the Cecil County Sheriff's office. Skip graduated from the Maryland toll Facilities Police Academy in 1991 and was assigned to the patrol division as a deputy.
During his 19 years of service, Skip has been assigned to various duties within the Sheriff's Office.

Skip is currently assigned to the Civil Process Division and is responsible for the evictions, foreclosures, judgements, sheriff's sales, communicating with landlords, tenants, banks, lawyers, and courts. His daily exposure to the economic hardships of Cecil County residents has enabled him to understand some of the needs of the citizens of Cecil County.
