Info | Larry Small has been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1973. He was first elected to serve the last two years of the vacated District 2 council seat in 1991. He was elected to an at-large council seat in April 2003 and was re-elected in 2007. In 2005, he was elected vice mayor. He was elected to the Colorado Municipal League Executive Board at the CML annual conference in June 2006.
In addition to his duties as vice mayor, Mr. Small serves as the Colorado Springs representative on the board of directors of the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments; as a commissioner of the Colorado Springs Housing Authority; as a commissioner of the El Paso County Regional Building Commission; as chairman of the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority; as a member of the Colorado Municipal League policy committee; as the Colorado Springs representative on the Fountain Creek Watershed, Flood Control and Greenway District Board; as vice chair of the Downtown Development Authority; as a member of the Imagination Celebration steering committee; and as council liaison to the Colorado Springs telecommunications policy advisory committee.
Mr. Small holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering/math from the West Virginia Institute of Technology in Montgomery, West Virginia and an honorary doctor of business management from Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs. He is the retired director of Turkish Operations, Lockheed Martin Corporation. He is a member of the Colorado Springs Downtown Lions Club.
