| Info | The Honourable Natalie Neita Headley is the Member of Parliament for North Central St. Catherine. Since January 2012, she has held the portfolio responsibility for Sport in the Office of the Prime Minister.
She holds two degrees from the State University of New York; a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Economics and a Master of Arts in Labour Relations Management. She has used her knowledge and training to purse her passion for rural development and community empowerment.
She grew up in the traditional farming community of Browns Hall, St Catherine and believes that the opportunities presented by Jamaica’s international presence in Sport have a great potential to allow more citizens to participate in growth industries that utilise Sport. These include professional sportsmanship, sports in business, tourism, health and education. She is the front line person in the Prime Minister’s office to direct programmes related to this area. One of her primary tasks is the continued shaping of a Sport policy that will be inclusive, and that will involve Jamaicans from every sphere of life, especially rural communities.
Minister Neita Headley has spent much of her professional career as an advocate for policies and programmes that uplift the lifestyle of people living in rural communities. Between 1998 and 2007, Minister Neita Headley represented Ginger Ridge, and later Lauriston as Parish Councillor. Minister Neita Headley was elected Member of Parliament in 2007 for East Central St. Catherine, and when the boundaries were redrawn, she was re-elected in 2011 as the representative of the new constituency of North Central St. Catherine.
Minister Neita Headley is a mother of two beautiful daughters. She enjoys a wide range of community activities. She appreciates good music and she loves to sing.
