Info | Joshua Putnam, the son of William and Laura Putnam of Greenville, SC, was born November 10, 1988. They moved to Powdersville when Joshua was a young boy at the age of 6 and have enjoyed living in Anderson County to this day. Putnam is the oldest of 7 children and knows the importance of family values. He also attends Christ Church, EPC in Anderson, SC. He was educated at home throughout his life while attending private schools and North Greenville University’s high school release program during his high school years. He was hired by The Planter’s Touch, a locally owned landscaping company at the age of 15 and is currently employed by the company. While in high school, he played Varsity basketball with Easley Home Educators and served as a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of the EHE drama team, International Key Club, and the yearbook staff. He graduated with honors in 2007.
Putnam has long been involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He earned his Eagle Scout Award at the young age of 15 from Troop 95 in Powdersville. He continued with scouts and earned an additional 6 Palm awards after his Eagle. The project that he led to earn his Eagle Scout Award was one of historical proportions. Putnam restored a 175 year old outdoor baptismal pool at Siloam Baptist Church located in Powdersville. At an estimated cost of $21,000, he obtained funds through donations and the help of business leaders throughout the community. The Baptist Courier and Powdersville Post spotlighted Putnam’s leadership and dedication on this endeavor on multiple occasions. He was awarded an Outstanding Leadership Award for leading his Troop while he was the Senior Patrol Leader. He also became an Assistant Scoutmaster after he was eighteen and still supports the scouting efforts today.
