| Info | My wife and I moved to Chester, Connecticut 20 years ago. We were attracted to Connecticut because of the natural beauty and quality of life the state had to offer. Soon after relocating from Delaware, the country entered a severe economic downturn and the national company I was with made the decision to leave New England. Rather than take an out of state employment opportunity, we chose to stay and started our own small business.
I value the opportunity municipal government provided to get involved in the community. I served on the Board of Education, Board of Finance, and Economic Development Commission before being elected First Selectman.
I was recently elected to my third term. During my tenure as First Selectmen, we have reduced spending on municipal operations while increasing services. The municipal budget today is less than the budget I inherited in 2005. Library, park and recreation, and police services have all improved during that same period. I have also served on the Governor’s Early Childhood Education Council, am a member of the executive board of the Workforce Alliance, and serve as Chair of a 17-town organization of municipal leaders, the Connecticut River Valley Chief Elected Officials. I hold a Masters of Business Administration from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Shippensburg State University.
My wife Kathy and I have three children. Ashley, our oldest, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Our son James is a college sophomore and Eagle Scout. Our youngest, Christine, is a high school junior with aspirations to enter the communications field.
