| Info | Charlie Maddox was born and has lived in Athens, Georgia all of his life. He was born to Mr. Juitt T. Maddox and the late Alice D. Freeman. He was educated in the Clarke County School System and attended the University of Georgia. He is married to Linda Hill Maddox and is the Father of Dr. Felicia Maddox Miller of Milwaukee, WI, Ms. Colesha Maddox of Fayetteville, GA, Ms. Natasha Maddox of Athens, GA and Mr. William Maddox of Statham, GA. Charlie and Linda have been guardians of 5 year old Miss Savannah Johnson for the past 4 years.
Charlie has spent a great portion of his life providing public service to the citizens of Athens-Clarke County by serving as a Founding Director of Athens Neighborhood Health Center, serving on the Board of Directors of the first Athens Diversion Center, on the Board of Directors for Athens Area Habitat for Humanity and Mercy Health Clinic and as a member of The Athens Navy Supply Corps School Local Redevelopment Authority.
Charlie served on the Board of Commissioners of the Athens Housing Authority for 15 years and as the Board Chairman for the past 7 years. He has also served as the Commissioner Committee Chairperson for the Georgia Association of Housing and Redevelopment Authorities.
He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, Samaritan Counseling Center of Northeast Georgia, as Chairman, Hope Haven of Northeast Georgia, Athens Area Walk to Emmaus and the Salvation Army Advisory Board.
Charlie is currently a member of The Athens Rotary Club, The AHIS/BHHS Alumni Association, One Hundred Percenter’s, Inc., Athens Area Human Relations Council, Athens AMVETS Post, Life Member of the NAACP and The Classic City Golf Association.
Charlie retired in 2008 after 34 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Georgia Department of Labor where he served in a number of state leadership positions. He is currently the Pastor of Twin Oak Baptist Church, Washington, Georgia where he has served for the past 13 years. He is currently President of Maddox Maintenance Company, a local private employer.
