Info | DAVIS, Amos, (brother of Garrett Davis), a Representative from Kentucky; born in Mount Sterling, Ky., August 15, 1794; completed preparatory studies; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Mount Sterling; was sheriff of Montgomery County, Ky.; member of the State house of representatives in 1819, 1825, 1827, and 1828; unsuccessful candidate for election to the Twentieth and Twenty-second Congresses; elected as an Anti-Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress (March 4, 1833-March 3, 1835); was a candidate for reelection, but died in Owingsville, Ky., while campaigning, June 11, 1835; interment in the City Cemetery, Mount Sterling, Ky.
