Info | KAYNOR, William Kirk, a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Sanborn, O’Brien County, Iowa, November 29, 1884; attended the common schools of Spencer and Clear Lake, Iowa; in his early youth was employed as a drug clerk in Clear Lake; moved to Gann Valley, Buffalo County, S.Dak., and herded cattle; was graduated from Hotchkiss School, Lakeville, Conn., in 1908 and from Yale University in 1912; moved to Springfield, Mass., in 1912 and engaged in the real estate and insurance business; during the First World War attended the officers’ training school at Camp Lee, Va., from July to November 1918; member of the common council of Springfield 1920-1924; postmaster of Springfield 1923-1928; elected as a Republican to the Seventy-first Congress and served from March 4, 1929, until his death in an airplane accident near Washington, D.C., on December 20, 1929; interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Springfield, Mass.
