Info | Joe Budd was born in Phillipsburg, NJ. His Father was a policeman and his mother worked in a pants factory. Joe grew up just across the Delaware River in Easton, PA. Easton is a city with a rich historical heritage. In fact, on July 8, 1776, it was the site for one of only three public readings of the Declaration of Independence.
Joe graduated from Easton High School and then attended Churchman’s Business School, where he majored in accounting. He was married in 1985. His wife’s name is Sherry and they will soon celebrate their 25th anniversary. They have three children Zachary, Jason and Cassandra all of whom are in college.
Joe has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. He worked as a delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza with the goal of ultimately owning a franchise. That goal was accomplished at the age of 24 when he purchased a Domino’s Pizza Franchise in Massachusetts. He was a successful business owner earning a six figure income! He had a beautiful wife two boys and a girl on the way. It couldn’t get any better than this!
Homesick, he and his wife sold the business and moved back to Pennsylvania. Joe started a new business but this one was failing and a year later he found himself struggling to put food on the table. He was working 16 hour days six days a week, 48 hours at his business and 48 hours at his “part time” job. Joe, his wife Sherry, and their three young children spent the next two years on government assistance as he tried to make a go of the business. It was a difficult time but as he and his wife look back on it they see it as an incredible learning experience.
One of Joe’s favorite quotes is a very simple one by Ben Franklin it says, “Things that hurt, instruct.” He learned a great deal about life through his success and even more through his failure.
Joe and his family moved to Florida in 1993 where he joined his Father’s financial planning practice. Joe’s father moved away in 1998 and Joe went out on his own. He took the opportunity to not only grow his business personally but to recruit and train others. Joe now supervises ten other representatives as well as manages his own practice. He has earned the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation through his course studies with the College of Financial Planning.
Joe and Sherry are active members of their Church where he has served as the Chairman of the Finance Committee for many years. He also currently serves as a deacon. Joe wants you to know what it means to be a deacon. First, the word Deacon literally means “servant”. This is exactly what the role of a United States Congressman should be. He should represent and serve the best interests of the people collectively.
Secondly, it is traditionally held that the office of deacon was established in response to the fact that some of the Jewish widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. The deacons were to see to it that this didn’t occur. The deacon is to be worthy of respect, not a double-talker but sincere in speech, not a heavy drinker and not greedy for personal gain. Joe thinks you would agree with him that none of these requirements would be undesirable for a United States Congressman to possess.
His accounting background and people management skills have served him well and he would like the opportunity to use his life experiences to bring some common sense solutions to Washington. Unfortunately, our elitist politicians today just don’t get it. They are out of touch with the struggles of the average Joe. He has never had political aspirations, but like you, he is tired of watching our elected representatives enrich themselves while they bankrupt our great nation. Join him in his fight to take back America! Joe Budd is in it for YOU!
