Info | Dr. Ford is in private practice as an ophthalmologist, is staff physician at the Memphis Health Center, and has served as pastor of the Fellowship Church of God in Christ.
A product of Shelby County school system, Dr. Ford is a graduate of Mitchell High School. He received a B.S. degree in Zoology from Tennessee State University, and an M.D. degree from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. He also attended American Baptist Theological Seminary, and New York Law School. He was elected to Memphis City Council from 1979-1994, and served as chairman in 1986 and 1992.
Dr. Ford was elected to the Shelby County Board of Commissioners in 1994and reelected in 1998. He has been a leader on health issues on the Board of Commissioners.
